Glenwood School DPL’s engineers have returned to Glenwood School to install the electrical and mechanical services for its new post-16 SEND block. Main Contractor: Morgan Sindall Project Value: Undisclosed Services: Mechanical, Electrical DPL’s engineers have returned to Glenwood School in South Benfleet to install the electrical and mechanical services for its new post-16 SEND block. The Community SEN School supports 210 students, aged three to 19 years old, with severe, profound or multiple learning difficulties. This is the third time DPL has worked at the school. In 2016 DPL were contracted by Morgan Sindall and Essex County Council to complete a design and build project for the school’s new £15.5m purpose-built premises in Thunderley. At the time, this was the biggest project DPL had carried out to date, so it was a privilege to return to the school to work on the new post-16 block. A few years later, in 2019, we also had the privilege to assist Morgan Sindall with the development of the school’s new boarding facilities. This new sixth form building will provide an improved learning environment for up to 40 pupils, tailored to their complex needs. It will include specialist classrooms, sensory and hygiene spaces, medical and wellbeing facilities, a kitchen, dining areas, social areas and outdoor respite space. For this project, DPL’s engineers carried out a full design, installation and commissioning of the mechanical and electrical services, including the ventilation system, sprinkler system, heating, lighting system, door access and fire alarms. Services Mechanical Services Provided Sprinkler Installation, Domestic Services, Heating/ASHP Installations, HVRF & DX AC Systems, Ventilation, Building Management Systems and Sanitaryware Installations. Electrical Services Provided LV Distribution, Small Power & Lighting, Lighting Controls, Data, Fire Alarm, CCTV, Door Access, Intruder Alarm, PV and EV Charging.  “My vision is about giving children and young people the very best start, and ensuring that this continues with the right support at the right time and in the right place. And this new building which will be used for post-16 students, is just that – supporting a smoother transition into adulthood. I can see that the 40 pupils that will be using this excellent facility are going to really benefit from its design and will thrive in the space, and importantly supported by the excellent staff.” Cllr Sam Journet, Cabinet Member for Education, SEND and Skills at Essex County Council Working on the project A group of passionate individuals all working towards the same goal: delivering excellence for clients in all aspects of building systems installation.
