Success Stories Marquis Hotel & Spa Marquis Hotel & Spa Transforming a charming local hotel and restaurant into a five-star luxury destination venue boasting breathtaking views and exuding opulence. Main Contractor: Brooks & Wood Architect: KLH Project Value: £1.4 million Services: Mechanical, Electrical DPL Group’s installation of Mechanical and Electrical works at The Marquis Hotel & Spa The Marquis was looking to transform its offering from a much-loved and reputable restaurant and hotel to a five-star destination venue attracting guests to a new spa and wedding venue from all over the South East. Located on the outskirts of Suffolk, the Marquis was expanding its offering to provide a world-class venue for weddings, parties, and events and cater for guests and visitors staying for the day to celebrate or overnight. The venue boasts exceptional views over the Suffolk countryside, with the opportunity to create an indoor/outdoor experience, to be enjoyed by guests all year round. The project would provide four additional bedrooms, a wedding venue, and a spa facility including an indoor and outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and dedicated treatment rooms. The project needed to deliver a luxury, high-end finish, from the design and construction through to the execution and decoration, supporting the venue’s high ticket pricing reflected in the standard of the interior. We tendered the project in 2022 and immediately commenced a collaborative design and build project, working with architects and interior designers, ahead of the summer, of 2024, when the spa and wedding venue would welcome its first guests and first couple. Challenges We needed to be agile, to meet the developing needs of the owner and the contractor, whilst ensuring that the project was executed to the highest standard. We had to maintain strong communication with the architect and interior designers to ensure that we created the desired look and feel, without compromising on the opening date. We had to adapt and respond quickly to the client’s needs on an ongoing basis, supporting them in bringing their extremely passionate vision to life. Results The Marquis, which has since been acknowledged regionally as a world-class venue, welcomed its first wedding party in July 2024. In addition, the elegant spa, which boasts a subterranean-inspired vaulted spa, now offers a hot tub, sauna, and indoor and outdoor infinity swimming pools.
