Sustainability is a core value at DPL Group, and the transition to electric vehicles is a pivotal part of our journey towards achieving our climate ambitions. Ian Tooke, Fleet and Tooling Manager at DPL Group, looks at how the upgraded vehicles will help achieve the firm’s big, bold, green ambitions. DPL’s commitment to a greener fleet At DPL Group, we are driving investment in the transition to a fully electric fleet – trialling, testing and investing in new electric vehicles across the Group. Our new, super-efficient EVs can be charged in just 30 minutes and offer an award-winning range of over 300 miles, with minimal servicing requirements. Our new Volkswagen ID. Buzz vans are helping drive our journey to net zero. The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz vans replace our previous Citroën fleet, which marked the beginning of our journey towards a net zero fleet over three years ago. The DPL Net Zero Fleet Programme will see our existing vehicles replaced with EVs over the next three to five years. With two new Volkswagen ID. Buzz vans joining the fleet next month, our EV fleet will grow from 10% last year to 15%, with a target of reaching 20% by March 2027. Ian commented – ‘My target is to manage DPL Fleet, building the right vehicles for the job, for our engineers, and for our planet – the new improved range and fast charging will make a real difference for our company, our engineers and our journey to net zero. Net zero Sustainability is a core value at DPL Group and a key KPI across all our companies. With an ambitious target of becoming net zero by 2040, reducing emissions from our vehicle fleet is a core part of our programme to deliver meaningful carbon reductions across the Group. Vehicles are one of the biggest contributors to DPL’s carbon footprint, so the acceleration of the fleet net zero programme will drive big changes across our net zero KPIs this year. Driving sustainability is at the forefront of our decision-making at DPL Group. This commitment is shared across the business and embedded across all our functions, from procurement, design and building to fleet, social value and our supply chain. The DPL Net Zero ambition goes beyond our Fleet EV Strategy. We’re investing in renewable energy solutions across our buildings, automated energy-saving lighting and heating, smart water solutions, employee EV schemes and EV charging points across our offices. We’re building better, we’re driving change, and we’re delivering…. The DPL Net Zero programme has delivered brilliant results in the last year – the reduction of carbon emissions from 29.66 to 23 metric tonnes of COâ‚‚e over the last year is a fantastic start to our ambition!
