The DPL group teams had an amazing time tackling ‘The Tough’ and ‘The Tougher’ routes as part of The Cumbrian Challenge this weekend, raising funds for Walking With The Wounded, on Saturday 17th May 2025. Overall, the event raised a humongous £400,000! This money will help change the lives of our veterans and their families, so a massive thank you to all who donated! Walking With The Wounded provides support veterans who need it the most “At Walking With The Wounded, we empower veterans by reigniting their sense of purpose, enabling them to make a positive contribution to their communities and lead independent lives. Whether mentally, physically or socially wounded, we support ex-service personnel and their families most in need. We offer personalised employment support, mental health and well-being support, and support care coordination to help veterans who are struggling after military service.” – Walking With The Wounded As our muscle and foot pain from the hills gradually faded after the event, we’re thrilled that the positive effects of our fundraising will last for years, benefiting those who served. Walking With The Wounded relies on the fundraising efforts of supporters to generate income to fund their great work. The Cumbrian Challenge helps to generate significant funds and raise their profile for those who need support. By all 870 people taking part in the event this year, we are helping change futures for veterans and their loved ones and, for some, save their lives. We heard first-hand from an ex-veteran, and now Paralympian, Gregg Stevenson MBE about the challenges he faced when leaving the military and how the team at Walking With The Wounded supported him to where he is now. “Those who served deserve, and everyone who takes part in the Cumbrian Challenge is contributing to enable Walking With The Wounded to continue to support veterans in need. And having a great time while they do it!” – James Davis, WWTW Head of Events & Partnerships
